The main ingredient is the extra virgin olive oil, extracted from local olive trees that grow all around this area and give the Alentejo its characteristic landscape. It is infused in lavender buds, some of them grown, picked and slowly dried by us and put inside jars with the olive oil for a few weeks until the scent and properties are completely incorporated. To add to the moisturizing characteristics of the olive oil, the organic cold pressed coconut oil provides the cleansing and firming properties and creates a bubbly lather.

Lavender is known to have remarkable effects on the body due to its antiseptic, anti-fungal, antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, making it one of the most used aromatic herbs for skin care. It has been explored since ancient times by Greeks and Romans for relaxing baths and as perfume. The essential oil is used on the forehead to clear headaches, with its familiar and unmistakable scent brings us an immediate calming sensation. The lavender buds decorating the top of the soap give a mild exfoliating effect.

Alkanet root, Alkanna tinctoria or the dyer’s alkanet, is an herb in the borage family native to the Mediterranean region and its mainly used as a red dye in food, cosmetics or fabrics. In this soap we use the alkanet powder slowly infused in almond oil for a few weeks, to give the beautiful shade of purple, reminding us the lavender colour.

HOW TO USE

1.Wet the soap bar.
2.Rub the soap in the hands or directly on the body.
3.Always leave the soap on top of a sponge or a soap holder with holes for the water to go through, making sure that it dries well between uses. This is the most important step for the soap to last a longer time. If it doesn’t dry properly, it becomes soft and every time it comes off a lot more quantity than needed.
