WHAT IS A LOW PH SHAMPOO

Contrary to a cold process soap (with a pH around 9) which is sometimes used as a shampoo, our solid shampoo has a pH between 5 to 6, closer to our skin and hair pH (4 to 5.5).
It has the ability to clean the hair keeping the pH at an optimal level. It creates less negative static electricity on the fiber surface, resulting on a more healthy hair with less frizz.

In order to promote the cleaning properties of the shampoo we use plant-based surfactants (they aren’t directly taken from nature like the surfactants created in the soap but they aren’t synthetic like the sulfates found in conventional products). The plant-based surfactants that we include in all our formulas are coming from the coconut oil (SCI, SCS and SLSA). They are all biodegradable, without parabens, other preservatives or harmful sulfates and are certified for natural cosmetic, allowing the formulations of mild products, with some amount of foam but not aggressive for our skin and hair.

WHY IS SOLID SHAMPOO MORE SUSTAINABLE

The solid shampoo avoids the use of plastic containers and is more travel friendly, specially using our cork travel box.
It uses less water in their production, making it highly concentrated and equivalent to multiple bottled liquid shampoos, that normally includes around 80% water in their formula.
It also means that you only need to use a small amount every time you wash your hair, so your solid shampoo will last longer. Is normally enough for 3 to 5 months, depending on how many times is used.

HOW TO USE

The shampoo can be used the same way you would use a soap:

1.Wet the shampoo bar.
2.Rub it on the hands to make some foam or directly on the hair.
3.After using the shampoo always leave it hanged to dry or on top of a sponge. This step is very important to guarantee the right preservation of the shampoo, if it stays with water it might go bad after a few weeks.

Suggestion for conditioning the hair after shampooing: Rinse with apple cider vinegar diluted in water (1:5) to restore the hair pH. Let it work for a few minutes and wash off with water.

INGREDIENTS

SCI (sodium cocoyl isethionate), SCS (sodium coco sulfate), reetha powder, water, shikakai powder, cetearyl alcohol, amla powder, green clay, SLSA (sodium lauryl sulfoacetate), coconut oil, avocado oil, cosgard, vitamin E, essential oil of lavender.

Shikakai and reetha powder (also known as soapnut) are ayurvedic herbs that contain natural saponins with cleansing properties. These herbs help to create natural foam and gently remove the grease from the scalp without stripping off its natural oil. Shikakai also moisturises the hair preventing split ends and the concentration of vitamins in reetha enhances the hair shine and reduces dryness.

Amla, known as the Indian gooseberry, is rich in antioxidants and vitamin A which promotes hair growth by inhibiting the activity of alpha-5 reductase which is responsible for hair loss.

Green clay removes toxins and absorbs excess sebum build-up,  balancing the skin’s sebum levels making it perfect for oily hair.

Avocado oil is a lightweight oil that doesn’t weigh your hair down or cause build-up. Is rich in oleic acid and monounsaturated fats, making it one of few oils that can really penetrate the hair shaft and moisturize your hair, rather than sitting on top and coating your hair. It’s indicated to use in hair with tendency to be oily. It also contains minerals that can help seal cuticle cells, preventing hair from breaking.
